Let me add that the "Show Key" suggestion is probably not a solution for
every keyboard(? or terminal? As I said, I'm still an ignorant...), as
it reports "\e[1;" for *every* combination of Ctrl and an arrow key to
me (using a German keyboard and konsole as xterm).

I had once asked John about similar control sequences for special keys,
and he pointed out two solutions:

(1.) The "quoted-insert" function bound to ^Q, which you can use to
discover the bindings. Simply press it, then the key you wish to
bind. This will display the escape sequence.

Using ^Q, I now do get different results for Ctrl + Up/Down/Right/Left,
namely "^[[1;5A" / "^[[1;5B" / "^[[1;5C" / "^[[1;5D".

(2.) The S-Lang source code distribution (I don't know about binary
packages) comes along with a nice little program called `untic', which
can be built using `cd slang/src; make untic`. untic prints a lot of
terminal information. Lucky who can read it!

Cheers,

Manfred
