[Jed-users-l] Have Jed/Xjed set an icon?

Hi,

This is possibly somewhat off-topic to this list, but I asked on
xfce-users how I could make an application set a custom icon in the panel
at runtime. The "panel" in the Xfce desktop environment is the bar,
typically located at the bottom of the screen, where you can have little
applets - and where an application icon becomes visible when a program is
started, so that you can navigate between various programs by clicking on
their icons. I was told that you cannot configure that in Xfce, rather it
is the application that sets the icon.

Since it was Jed/Xjed I had in mind, I wondered if anyone happens to
know how I can associate a custom icon to them that will become visible
in the panel when they are running? Currently I get a generic terminal
like icon.

I have tried creating a file, /usr/share/applications/xjed.desktop, which
contents look like this:

  [Desktop Entry]
  Version=1.0
  Encoding=UTF-8
  Name=Xjed
  GenericName=Xjed
  Comment=Just Another Editor (X11)
  Exec=/usr/local/bin/xjed
  TryExec=xjed
  Terminal=false
  Type=Application
  Icon=/home/mojo/.icons/xjed.xpm
  Categories=Application;Utility;TextEditor;
  MimeType=text/plain

But as far as seeing the icon when I start Xjed, nothing doing.

Regards,

Morten
