It was named -W before. With the version 3.4 it was renamed to -Wextra.

`-Wextra'
     (This option used to be called `-W'.  The older name is still
     supported, but the newer name is more descriptive.)  Print extra

The warning you get with -Wformat=2 is easily fixable with "%*d".
