Good morning, everyone...
In Debian Sarge using the default apt-get install of jed, jed-common,
slanglib and jed-extra, I continue to receive the following notice upon
starting Jed:
***Fatal Error: JED_ROOT environment variable needs set.
jed version: 0.99.16/Unix
Compiled with GNU C 3.4
S-Lang version: 1.4.9
jed compile-time options:
+LINE_ATTRIBUTES +BUFFER_LOCAL_VARS +SAVE_NARROW +TTY_MENUS
+EMACS_LOCKING +MULTICLICK +SUBPROCESSES +DFA_SYNTAX +ABBREVS
+COLOR_COLUMNS +LINE_MARKS -GPM_MOUSE
CBuf: 0x80929c8, CLine: 0x8092d0c, Point 0
CLine: data: 0x8092b80, len = 0, next: (nil), prev (nil)
Max_LineNum: 1, LineNum: 1
JWindow: 0x80aee00, top: 1, rows: 29, buffer: 0x80929c8
I've tried set JED_ROOT=<Jed's default directory> several times and see it
in the environment OK, but Jed continues to faint. Any ideas, anyone? I've
had other equally perplexing issues with Debian Sarge's install, so this
may be part of something bigger. <sigh>
