[slang-users] Please release slang-2.3.2

Hi John,

First, most importantly, the recent change in terminfo structure (as
you obviously know since you've fixed it in pre2.3.2-19) makes the
combination of slang-2.3.1, terminfo-6.1 and TERM=xterm-256color fail
big time.

Distributions are usually pretty reluctant to upgrade to pre-releases,
and bad in cherry-picking fixes. Many of them will probably not touch
slang until official 2.3.2 is released, and perhaps go with other
workarounds (e.g. in case of Midnight Commander, build with ncurses
instead; or stay with older ncurses versions, or revert to TERM=xterm
which results in degraded user experience in other ways...).

Secondly, Unicode 9.0 has changed the width of plenty of glyphs from
single to double wide. This has caused tons of troubles about a year
ago. By now, pretty much all distributions have upgraded all of their
relevant components to Unicode 9 (or even 10), so that finally the new
behavior of terminal emulators and the new behavior of apps matches
again in most cases. Slang is lagging behind, resulting in any of
these characters easily causing display corruption in e.g. Midnight
Commander. (pre2.3.2-5 upgraded to Unicode 9.)

The last two stable Slang versions were released after 100+ pre
versions. This is going to take forever from now. I believe the
severeness of these two issues really justify not to wait too much,
but instead, could you please release a new stable 2.3.2 in the really
close future? (Maybe update to Unicode 10 first...)

thanks a lot,
egmont
