I am busy working on 2.0, which I hope to release sometime next year.
Regarding the wgetch behavior, I intend to release 1.4.5 with a
patch to slcurses.c to provide you with what I feel is a fundamentally
flawed behavior.  When I find time, I will followup with more detail
about why I strongly dislike the behavior that you are requesting and
give you detailed examples that illustrate its flaws.
