[Jed-users-l] no exit status on exit()

  exit (Int_Type status)

 DESCRIPTION
  This function performs the same actions as `exit_jed' except
  that the status code returned to the shell may be specified.

But when I call exit(3) (via Esc Esc x) and jed is terminating, in the 
calling shell $? is 0

Why?
Maybe there is an exit handler between?
