Not entirely. Try creating a file called $HOME/.Xdefaults-HOSTNAME,
where HOSTNAME is the output of the `hostname` command. In that file
put:

   UXjed*font: Inconsolata
   UXjed.facesize: 16

More generally, you can use the XENVIRONMENT environment variable.
>From the X manpage says:

       XENVIRONMENT
Any user- and machine-specific resources may be specified by
setting the XENVIRONMENT environment variable to the name of
a resource file to be loaded by all applications. If this
variable is not defined, a file named
$HOME/.Xdefaults-hostname is looked for instead, where
hostname is the name of the host where the application is
	  executing.

FWIW, I prefer the Inconsolata-g version of the font. See
<http://leonardo-m.livejournal.com/77079.html> for more details.

I hope this helps.
