It looks like you may have an incomplete slang distribution.  You
should have require.sl installed.  What does

 jed -batch -quiet -f 'vmessage("%S",_slang_install_prefix)'

produce?  require.sl should be located in
${_slang_install_prefix}/share/slsh/ .
