All-ASCII Menus?

Greetings, fellow Jed users.

I was looking for a new editor for my Sharp Zaurus PDA, found a port of Jed, and thought I'd give it a try.

I've got Jed installed and running, but have found a problem: the graphics characters used for borders on the menus do not display correctly in my Zaurus's small console application and cause the menus to format strangely when I open them. Is there a way to remove the menu borders, or to make Jed use normal ASCII characters ('|', '-', '+'...) for them?
