Try putting this in your .jedrc file:

   define fold_mode_hook ()
   {
      if (get_mode_name() == "python")
        {
	   local_setkey ("py_shift_region_left",  "^C<");
	   local_setkey ("py_shift_region_right", "^C>");
	}
   }
