It is best to use usermarks for this:

  move_somewhere ();
  m1 = create_user_mark ();
  move_somewhere_else ();
  m2 = create_user_mark ();
     .
     .
  if (m1 > m2)
    .
    .

Note, only the relational operators ==, >=, etc are defined for
user-marks.
